The story board

My idea is to create a video which looks like those YouTube homemade videos. A person's sitting in front of the camera with a clown puppet in his hand. While the guy's explaining what he's going to do with the puppet, plans get wrong, the puppet slowly turns it's head towards the guy, then jumps from the hand ad stabs poor bastard.

Now my original idea was that the guy's going scare his roommate with the puppet, because his friend is afraid of clowns and especially of this creepy one. But while I was working on this short storyboard I came up with an interesting alternative but similar idea for this story, which I will post later on.

  1. Hey Nikita,

So we discussed this in detail, but to recap - make sure you plan this out with an animatic or video test - so you know when you have to react to the actions of the CGI puppet during your shoot and you make sure that you give yourself enough time for things to play out. This means you have to decide what is going to happen between the beginning and the stab.

I suggest shooting it with and without the puppet hand, my inclination is that you should do the hand all CG for control, but just incase it pays to have a backup plan. Put x's on your hand for the shots with YOUR puppet hand in the shot. Shoot photos of your real hand in the exact same lighting scenario as the footage you shoot, so you can camera map it to your geometry - make sure to shoot your hand from many angles.

Please move forward and make a much more refined list - with every single item you need to do for the piece with how long you think it will take. Send this to Leo and I and post on your blog and we'll talk about how realistic it is.

    For example:
    Airplane model: 10 days
    Airplane UV: 1 day
    Airplane Texture: 4 days
    Airplane shader 0.5 days
(this is the kind of detail we want to see)
